~Friday~ Once again, I took the Wolfline bus to work instead of the city bus in order to have more options to get home, as a big winter storm has been squawked about for way too many days now, and the last report I listened to (which admittedly was probably two days ago) estimated its start at around 6:00PM.
I had the best day I’ve had at work in quite a while, completing minutes of two different meetings, with one of them being right after the meeting, which makes them so much easier to do and which I need to do more often.
I also did some editing work, which I enjoy doing.
My friend Kevin (av8rdude) sent me this today:

I caught the 5:24 #1 Avent Ferry Wolfline bus home, and after making some peanut butter and pretzel “sandwiches” to take to “Salon at Sarah’s Night,” I dug through my game bin and removed my seven most favorite word games to take with me:
- Catch Phrase
- Uncommon Sense
- 25 Words or Less [Although incorrectly named grammatically, as it should be “25 Words or Fewer,” but I digress…]
- Taboo
- Outburst
- Password
- Boggle
I also love Pictionary, but didn’t take that one out to bring, because I’m pretty sure someone else will bring it and my box was getting heavy.
With all the games, the snacks, three cans of Diet Coke, and a flask of bourbon, I headed out to Sarah’s place in Apex. When I got (just up the road) to the intersection of Kent and Western Boulevard, it was snowing like crazy. I turned left onto Western and while circling back to my place, I called Anna to let her know I wasn’t going to be make it out there.
I really don’t like driving in the snow as it’s just taking an unnecessary risk, and it’s such a hassle if you get stuck or you run into someone or they into you. It’s just not worth it.
Back home, I finished another down-to-the-last-play Scrabble game with Robert. Great fun.
I absolutely love butternut squash, but absolutely hate peeling it and chopping it up. I took that on, since the gourd has been sitting on my counter for several days now. It’s all ready to be steamed tomorrow, and I’m already looking forward to it.
I had had less than 1000 of my 1900-2100 daily calorie allowance for today, as I was holding off to allow some snacks and drinking at Sarah’s. I snacked on a few pretzels with peanut butter, but then decided to try a “recipe” I read about the other night when I was looking for a way to get in a high protein, low fat and low carb dish.
Although I was highly skeptical, because it didn’t sound that great, I was absolutely astonished at how good it ended up tasting! Simple enough: one 5 oz. can of Albacore Tuna in Water heated in a frying pan in the water from the can, with some onions and celery added to it. I also added some diced mushrooms, since I had some. Top with salt and pepper. Oh, and I sprinkled ΒΌ of a cup of shredded Mozzarella cheese on top.
It was so good that I’ll definitely be making it at least once a week, if not twice, as I bought eight cans of that tuna since it was on sale. The numbers for the dish came out to: 245 calories, 8.3 grams of fat (6 of it from the cheese), 10.4 grams of carbs, and 36.1 grams of protein. Sweet.
I have tickets to tomorrow’s NCSU vs. NCCU basketball game to sit in the Chancellor’s Box at the RBC Center to watch the game. It’s already been confirmed that “the game will go on” regardless of how the weather evolves. The NCAA rules say that if both teams are already in town, then the game must go on. And they are already both in town.
It’ll be interesting to see if I can get there. The tickets were free, so I’m not killing myself to do it, but I did invite a guest who is SUPER excited about being there and she can’t get in unless I’m there, too, as I have the tickets. We’ll see how it all unfolds.
