~Saturday~ Since I was to bed by 10:00 last night, I started off my morning with the aroma of a cup of coffee wafting together with a little George Winston piano music, resulting in this tweet at around 7AM:
At around 9:00, I left for my office armed with a bag containing a hammer, two screwdrivers (one Phillips head, one slotted), a pair of pliers, and an organizer containing nails, screws, hooks, pins and a bunch of other things that could be banged and twisted into a wall.
I had big plans of moving my award plaques and my diploma from the old side of my office to the new, but that didn’t end up happening, as I spent most of the time getting our Manbites Dog agendas and minutes caught up on our website.
At a little after 11:00, I left and while walking to my car came across a small protest march, from which I averted my eyes after seeing one or two people holding signs up that had the word “Truth” on it. That’s usually not a good sign, pun totally intended.
Hillsborough Street was absolutely deserted—which would be a surprise to absolutely no one, except perhaps this group of people who chose it to stage a protest on it—since it’s the weekend and the students are busily sleeping off Friday night hangovers.
It did remind me of the Rally to Restore Sanity going on in Washington, DC on the mall today, which made me think of Jon Stewart, which eventually led me to this on the web, and I wondered how I’d missed it so many years ago:
I picked up a dozen donuts at the Dunkin’ Donuts there on Hillsborough Street, and then swung by the library at Cameron Village to return The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, before heading out to Durham for our noon Manbites Dog Board of Directors Meeting.
We had a productive meeting, after which I went to Robert’s for some killer appetizers of crackers, cheese, and bread and butter pickles, followed by a lunch of hot dogs cooked on the grill and some potato chips. Heaven.
The hot dogs came complete with some KFC slaw, which we both love; some chopped onions; and some chili along with ketchup and mustard for toppings.
Robert was at the sink cleaning up, and we had just commented on how “nipply” (cool) it was outside. I was in his dining room and when he said, “I’m throwing the chili out,” I said, “Yes, it is chilly out.” Once we realized what had happened, we couldn’t stop giggling.
“Harry, I’m throwing the chili out.”
“Yes Marty, it is chilly out!”
I thought I’d take a nap before going out for the costume contest at Flex tonight, but waking up at 9:00 or 9:30, I just kept rolling over and enjoying my bed so much that I ended up staying in it. Another night in.
