Donated diamonds, a Labor Day Holiday cookout, in-and-out scareyoke, and Asians and math…

~Sunday~ I got up at about 9:30 today, after trying to go back to sleep for an hour. I tested the mixture for the deviled eggs, which I immediately didn’t like. It was way too salty and the taste just wasn’t where I wanted it to be. I considered just tossing them all, but then thought I’d let Robert and Joe taste one and if they didn’t like them either, toss them then.

I spent the next half hour with my new Pampered Chef decorator gun putting the filling in the eggs and then placing them in my new Pampered Chef Deviled Egg Holder. Thanks, Bob!

After that it was toast, coffee, country gospel on my iTouch, and this week’s PostSecrets, from which this one stood out:

I put the diamon earrings that my abusive ex-boyfriend gave me into the pocket of a pair of jeans that I donated. I hope whoever ets them enjoys them!!

I straightened up some, vacuumed the living room and kitchen, and then hit the shower for Robert and Joe’s 1:00 arrival.

I’m going to make some notes about this cookout today, and tag it “cookout,” so the next time I have one I can check back and remember these things:

  1. I don’t care for Reser’s Cole Slaw. Get the slaw from KFC.
  2. In my deviled eggs recipe, leave out the salt completely, and use diced Gherkins instead of the sweet relish that it calls for.
  3. I don’t care for that Texas Pete Chili Sauce in the can.

For the most part, however, it was a nice cookout with Sabrett Hot Dogs on the grill and good company. Both the Ben & Jerry’s Pistachio Pistachio and Americone Dream ice cream flavors were out of this world.

Joe introduced this Lady Gaga video to us, which has a definite country sound to it and does nothing short of catapulting Lady Gaga’s bizarre creativity factor up by a gazillion:

After the boys took leave of my home, I hit the sack for a three-hour nap. A three-hour nap. The weather started getting rough… Not really; and I digress…

After the nap and before leaving for scareyoke, I checked off a couple of things on my ta-da to-do list, and added a couple of news ones to it—all from the near-term list.

I had some very annoying U.S. mail from Nationwide about something I’ve already called once to take care. If there’s anything worse than erroneous charges that have to be called called about, it’s having to call back about them still not being addressed.

I got to Flex at around 10:00, and promptly left at 10:30. It got way crowded very quickly, with it being a holiday weekend and with most people there probably off work tomorrow.

There were also a few people who had been drinking way too much for way too long, and I wasn’t in the mood to deal with that all night.

At home, I totally enjoyed the found time and read a nice chunk of Outliers, which as usual, once I pick back up engages me immediately and deeply. There was a fascinating, fascinating section about Asians and math, which prompted me to make it a salon agenda item.
