~Monday~ It was cold and rainy today, and I caught the city bus in.
Most of my day was consumed finishing up a website project for one of my colleagues, and at the end of the day, I checked on whether I still had to do a project that was going to potentially take 3 or 4 hours, and thank god the “direction had changed,” and what I was supposed to do had been eliminated.
I just missed the 5:00 bus home, so I had to wait for 30 minutes, and as I did so, the scene at the bus shelter on Hillsborough Street between Gardner and Brooks grew to this:
I laughed at the soundbites, which overall fell into two categories as people huddled to keep warm and to move in out of the rain:
- I didn’t get the memo that it was going to be so cold.
- I didn’t get the memo that it was going to rain today.
One lady trying to scoot past me to the seat toward the back of the shelter, “Is there any dryness back here?”
“Dryness is at a premium today, I’m afraid,” I responded.
“And relative,” she retorted as she sat on a partially wet seat.
