We got up around 10:00, I think. I made Robert a cheese omelet, and I had some scrambled eggs.
We did a rather challenging crossword puzzle from The Independent, and then took a 2-3 hour nap!
Robert had a late lunch at Subway, and then we stopped by K-Mart to return a picture frame, and to check out their wedding paper. We weren’t satisfied with the choices of paper there, so passed on it.
We stopped by Harris Teeter, and picked up, among other things, some bagels to use as hamburger buns later. While I started the grocery shopping, Robert ran into the Dollar Store next door to see what their selection of wrapping paper looked like. Nothing good enough.
We stopped by home long enough to put the groceries away, and then Robert rode over to the Avent Ferry shopping center, where he went into Food Lion while I got my hair cut at CostCutters. The lady who thinks you can get AIDS from inhaling hair clippings of HIV+ people cut my hair.
Robert cooked hamburgers on the grill and we had them, along with a salad, for dinner. Good stuff.
We got to Flex between 8:30 and 9:00, and it was pretty barren in there, as usual that early on a Saturday night. The dance floor was arranged differently, and in such a way that it made it impossible to stand in front of the fan without being on the dance floor. Not good.
As it turned out, they had decided to have a “Country Drag Show” in the middle of the night. We were supposed to be dancing “all night,” from 8PM – 2PM, but they scheduled a “break” from about 11:30 – 12:30 for the drag show. And as it turned out, three of the songs the various drag queens were going to be singing were songs we do line dances to, and they asked us to “dance around them” while they were singing.
At first this all sounded a bit tiresome, but when it actually happened, the crowd really got into it, and it turned out to be a lot of fun. Two of the drag queens actually sang their songs (as opposed to lip syncing them), and they had great voices. One of them did Harper Valley PTA, and substituted the other drag queens’ names in the song, which was pretty funny. “And if you smell of Mini Mart’s breath, you’ll find she’s had a little nip of gin…”
Guys lined up to hand the performers dollars, and during Sierra Nevada’s performance of K.D. Lang’s Big Boned Gal, we did The Circle Jerk dance around the little “stage” she was on in the middle. It was a lot of fun, and Brigner made a comment over the mic, “That’s cool as shit.”
We continued to dance after the show, too, so it was a full, fun night.
