Holiday luncheon, mid-afternoon holiday mingle, recognition dinner…

I updated the calendar on my website to include 2006.

Today was an eating day.

First, from 11:00 – 2:00, we had an “Area Holiday Meeting,” which consisted of employees of about 5 departments. The managers bought the meats (Bojangles chicken, Sliced turkey breasts, and a Honey-Baked spiral ham), and everyone else brought a side dish to share. I brought a cream cheese dip made with:

Next, from 2:30 – 4:30, was our “Division Holiday Mingle,” which consisted of heavy hors d’oeuvres, beer, wine & soda. Our division is comprised of approximately 3300 employees.

Then, from 6:00 – 8:30, I attended a “Diversity Network Group Dinner,” at the Radisson Governers Inn in RTP. This was a recognition event for people who have contributed to IBM’s diversity goals over the year.

I actually ended up skipping the division mingle, as at about twenty minutes ’til 2:00, my manager instant messaged me asking if I was available to moderate a publication inspection from 2:00 – 4:00, which I did.

The evening recognition event was nice. I was really engaged by the keynote speaker. The night was a little long, though; a couple of the DNG speakers were not very good presenters, and took a little too long.

I was happy to see Jennette get recognized, and I was a little bit jealous of her award, because it looks like a tombstone, which I love.
