I saw The Ten Tenors at Memorial Auditorium.

This concert was good, but not great. I wanted it to be better. I wanted to like these guys more. I can’t really put my finger on what it was that didn’t quite “work” for me, but it’s something to do with them trying hard to make us believe we had a better time than we did.
By far, their best numbers were ones that were based in opera, which makes sense as all of these guys, originally, were university students studying for careers in opera.
They did a very, very nice arrangement of Simon & Garfunkel’s “The Boxer,” which was one of my favorite S&G songs.
The number I liked the most — it was quite phenomenally done — was Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody.
Toward the end, they did a couple of Bee Gees songs from Saturday Night Fever, and the young girl behind me asked her young friend sitting next to her, “Have you ever heard of that, Saturday Night Fever?”
When the friend answered, “No, what is it?” she replied, “Oh, it’s old America. It’s really funny.”
I met the Tech Comm gang at Will’s for some Super Bowl fun, which it was. Good food, good folks, (one or two) good commercials.
I didn’t get any where near the amount of homework done this weekend that I intended, and needed, to. I will suffer for it this week, as will my blog entries, I’m afraid.
