I sat in on my boss’s boss’s meeting this morning in the place of my boss who was tending to some medical issues with her mother. It’s always interesting to get another perspective of the workplace.
Following that, I had a meeting with someone who totally forgot about our meeting and had left for lunch, but I was able to meet with his colleauge, who sits in the same office suite, and I got done what I needed to get done.
NCSU, like many universities and colleges around the country, is considering “outsourcing” student e-mail. A task force was put together by our CIO and so far it has narrowed down the choice of potential service providers to two vendors: Microsoft and Google. Tonight we sponsored this event:
Google Apps Education Edition vs. Microsoft’s Live@edu/Exchange Labs—You be the judge!
The Student Email Task Force is looking for your feedback! How can we best support your current and future student email and related needs? Currently we’re comparing the Unity email service with two hosted service options—Google Apps Education Edition and Microsoft’s Live@edu/Exchange Labs. Come check out what the two hosted options have to offer at a demonstration on: Monday, Feb. 16 We also have a limited number of free test accounts available for these services. If you are a current student and have interest in testing these services and providing us with feedback, visit the Student Email Initiative Web site and sign up for an account. If you are unable to attend the demonstration, we encourage you to leave us feedback on the web site! Thanks! |
I arrived at the gym to help set up for this event from 3:30-5, and then I tweeted the event from 5-7. After that, I helped with the take-down and clean-up.
I picked up Joe at the airport at about 10:30, we stopped for Diet Coke and some munchies on the way home, and I spent about an hour at his place catching up.
